“Don’t you think that daisies are the friendliest flowers?” Name that movie!! It’s one of my favorites! I am so excited that I was able to design my newest stamp set for Simon Says Stamp called Daisy Frame (check it out HERE) featuring the friendliest of blooms. I created two different daisy floral arrangements for the stamp set, one with a wreath of daisies and foliage (check out THIS project and THIS project featuring the large wreath!) and for today’s project, I thought I’d turn my attention to the smaller swag included with the set. Let’s get started with the details on my project!

To begin, I stamped the swag from Daisy Frame using no-line coloring ink on plain white cardstock, then used OLO Markers to color the images in pretty shades of purple and soft green. I used the coordinating dies to cut the finished colored images out and set them aside. Daisies are such a fun floral to color, because the petals are fairly straightforward and don’t curl in on each other, making them great for practicing your shading!

After I had created my pretty daisy swags, I decided to ramp up the feminine factor with some pretry, lacy frames. I die cut the new Petal Point Frames twice: once alone for the medium-sized die cut and another paired with an A2 Rectangles die to create a lovely, lacy frame. I layered the two lacy die cuts on my white A2 card front, adhering the frame around the outside with liquid adhesive and using thin foam adhesive for the center die cut so that they were layered together. The straight edge of the exterior frame keeps the layered frames from being too visually busy.

After I had layered the frames on my card front, I used another layer of thin foam adhesive to add the daisy swags to the top and bottom of my middle lacy rectangle. The double layer of foam adhesive helps those daisies to pop from the layers of white cardstock! I also stamped a greeting from Daisy Frame using Whale Pawsitively Saturated Ink and die cut it with it’s coordinating die, then placed it in the absolute center of my middle lacy rectangle with some more thin foam adhesive. Finally, I added a few Opal Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for sparkle!

Well, that’s all for my project today! I just love the crisp white-on-white layers with that pop of vibrant purple, don’t you? It’s so feminine and delicate! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Colored Pencil Daisy Frame with New Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I am back today with another project featuring my latest design for Simon Says Stamp: Daisy Frame! This pretty stamp set was released during the Simon Says Stamp Every Happiness release (click HERE to check out the entire release!), and it features two different daisy arrangements with lots of gorgeous sentiments, and of course you can also purchase fantastically detailed dies and even simple coloring stencils! After creating THIS card in which I enhanced the stenciled images with some light colored pencil shading, I chose to put my colored pencils to use again on their own with this inlaid project. Let’s get started with the details on how I created this dramatic thinking of you card!

To begin, I placed the large frame die from the Daisy Frame product suite in the (approximate) center of an A2 card front created using Midnight Green Simon Says Stamp cardstock. I reserved the positive die cut for another project, then placed a clean A2 card front in the same Midnight Green cardstock in my MISTI and placed the negative die cut leftover over the top, lining up both pieces of cardstock in the corner of my MISTI. I then placed the coordinating daisy frame stamp from Daisy Frame within the negative die cut and closed the lid of my MISTI. This technique allows me to place the stamped image exactly in the center of the die cut window!

After I had placed my stamp in the proper spot, I stamped the image onto that deep green cardstock using Simon Says Stamp White Pigment Ink. I find that stamping the images on which I intend to color using colored pencils onto dark cardstock with the White Pigment Ink works a treat; the white pigment ink sits atop the cardstock rather than sinking down into it like a dye ink, so the lines get reabsorbed into the opaque colored pencil coloring! I used colored pencils in shades of coral and cool jungle green to color this detailed image with a no-line coloring style, and you can see in the photos how nicely that white pigment ink is absorbed into the colored pencil coloring, making it look like I drew this wreath by hand! (Sneaky, sneaky!)

After I had finished coloring the image, I placed the negative die cut frame over the top, centering it over the stamped image and adhering the panel with thin foam adhesive squares. This is a hard one to see in photos because of the dark cardstock, but the raised frame adds a bit more dimension and interest to the card front. I wanted to keep the color palette simple, so instead of adding any more colors or metallic accents, I decided to stamp the greeting from Daisy Frame onto more Midnight Green cardstock using White Pigment Ink and added white embossing powder over the top. I die cut the finished sentiment with it’s coordinating die, then placed it in the center of the floral wreath image with a double layer of foam adhesive to help it pop from the deeply saturated background. I thought that the card could use a bit more texture around the edges, so I die cut the More A2 Rectangles die from some more Midnight Green cardstock and adhered the largest one to the card front using liquid adhesive. Finally, I added some Peachy Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for a bit of sparkle!

Well, that’s all for my project today! I love using coordinating dies to create inlaid images, and creating these pretty coral daisies on this dramatically dark green cardstock was such a fun way to blend the two techniques. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

New Illustration for the Simon Says Stamp Every Happiness Release-Now Available!

Hi friends! Simon Says Stamp has released their newest collection with the Every Happiness release (click HERE to check out the entire release!), and this is an extra special release for me, because the new Daisy Frame stamp set is one of my illustrations!! I have always loved daisies, but their simplicity has for some reason eluded my brain when it came to arranging them for a stamp set. I was recently reading a book with my daughter and one of the characters was weaving a daisy crown, and it hit me: a daisy chain! I am so excited that this set offers not only super detailed dies but stencils, too, to make coloring super easy for those who aren’t interested in working with coloring mediums. Let’s get started on the details on my project for tonight!

To begin my project, I wanted to create a no-line colored look, even though I knew I would be using the Daisy Frame stamp with the Daisy Frame Stencils, so I stamped the large floral frame using no-line coloring ink. I then placed the stamped panel on my Stencil Station (a 7×10 Craft Tacky Mat placed on a Magnetic Glass Mat, always at the ready for easy and quick stenciling!) and placed the Daisy Frame stencils in their appropriate spots. I used the new Shading Brushes to blend Sky & Aspen Pawsitively Saturated Inks, creating a lovely, serene color palette.

Once I had finished blending using the stencils, I used some colored pencils to add a little extra shading and shape to the stenciled images. Because I used a no-line coloring ink, I achieved the no-line look I was going for, but some of the details got a bit lost. Adding some simple shading with colored pencils helped enhance some of those details! After I had finished blending and adding extra shading, I used the super detailed coordinating die to cut out the frame. The new Chunky Ovals dies, with their slightly elongated shape, were perfect to pair with this oblong oval flower frame! I popped up the floral die cut on this oblong oval using thin foam squares, then added more thin foam squares behind the oval and adhered it to a white, A2 card front.

For the greeting, I kept the color palette light and airy, die cutting the gorgeous Thank You from the new XL Darling Script Greetings 1. I die cut one of the detailed dies from white glitter cardstock, then cut two more from some white scrap cardstock and layered them together with liquid adhesive. This change of texture and additional height on the sentiment help to add visual interest to this limited-palette project! I popped it up with some additional thin foam squares, then added a few Dusk Pawsitively Dazzling Gems around the wreath for a bit of added sparkle.

Well, that’s all for my project today!! I have so many fun things to share with you using this new Every Happiness release (click HERE to check out the entire release!). Don’t forget about the fabulous two-day blog hop happening later this week. Inspiration and prizes galore! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Blending and Vellum Flowers with Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I have a somewhat simple card to share with you today using my newest Blooms of Encouragement stamp set. This set features two pretty floral bouquets, and this dahlia swag that I used on my project today is one of my favorite images that I’ve drawn! I wanted to showcase how nicely it works on it’s own without having to add lots of intricate coloring (in case you are not coloring-obsessed like I am!). That doesn’t mean that you don’t have to have color, though! I took advantage of the details on the image to do some heat embossing on vellum, a little blending, some sparkles, and a bit of twine for texture. Let’s get started with the details on my project!

To start, I heat embossed the dahlia image from Blooms of Encouragement a few times on some semi-transparent vellum using silver embossing powder. The super smooth surface of the vellum makes embossing super detailed images like this an absolute dream; just be sure that you don’t heat up the powder too much, or it will bubble! After I had finished embossing, I used the coordinating dies to cut out each detailed image.

For the card base, I used blending brushes to blend Pawsitively Saturated Inks in shades of Taffy + Lilac on the corner of my white A2 card front. The vibrant colors will peek through the semi-transparent vellum! To add a little extra texture and sparkle to the card front, I splattered some iridescent glittering watercolors on the blended background. I used thin strips of clear foam dimensional adhesive to add the embossed blooms to the blended card front, trimming off the excess from the edges to create clean lines along each edge.

For the greeting, I silver embossed two sentiments from the Blooms of Encouragement, then die cut them with their coordinating dies. I added a light wash of pink over the embossed greetings using the residual ink left on the Taffy blending brush. I popped the greetings up on the card front using thin foam adhesive and tucked an iridescent bow beneath the greeting. Finally, I added a few Prism Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for added sparkle!!

Well, that’s all for my project today! If you don’t love to color or maybe are short on time, I hope this project shows that floral bouquets don’t have to have super intricate coloring to make a huge impact on a card front. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Love is in the Air with New Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I am back today with a card to kick off wedding season! While my husband and I are pretty much out of the “wedding season” phase, it’s always a good idea to have a card on hand for a wedding or bridal shower. I used my new Blooms of Encouragement set with OLO Markers to do some intricate no-line coloring on this wedding card, creating a continuous pattern on my card front that I think looks like gorgeous wrapping paper or fabric. Let’s get started with the details!

To begin, I stamped the smaller dahlia nosegay stamp from Blooms of Encouragement on my white A2 card front using no-line coloring ink. I created the pattern by stamping the image in it’s entirety once on the card front, then rotating the panel and the stamp so that it hung over the edge of the panel, making sure that none of the images were repetitive or at the same angle each time, so that it looks as unique and continuous as possible. Once I had finished stamping all of the background, leaving a space for a greeting, I used OLO Markers to color the images with a rich green, muted lavender, and soft pink color palette.

Once the coloring was complete, I turned my attention to the sentiment. I die cut the detail layer of the new Timeless Love die set using Simon Says Stamp’s Seashell cardstock, backing it with a vellum shadow layer. I enhanced this large die cut greeting focal point with some smaller sentiment strips from the EZ Strips Traditional Wedding sentiment card set. I popped all of the greeting pieces up using thin foam adhesive squares for a bit of extra height and dimension.

Once I had completed the main elements of the card, it was time to add some extra texture and sparkle. I tied a dainty white silk bow and tucked it beneath the sentiment strips with liquid adhesive, then added a few shimmering Opal Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for added shine and texture. I love the effect that these few additions have on the overall aesthetic of the card!

Well, that’s all for my project today! I am so excited about the new Blooms of Encouragement set…. it fulfills so many of my coloring dreams and it’s great for a variety of occasions. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
