Hi friends! Have you checked out the new Just A Note release from Simon Says Stamp? I shared this zingy lemon card HERE, and today I have completely switched gears to share this serene “thinking of you” card using the gorgeously detailed new Golden Fern Embossing Folder. I used some simple blending, swiping, and splattering to help enhance the beautiful details on this embossed image. Let’s get started with the details!

To start, I ran a panel of A2 Hammermill cardstock with the new Golden Fern Embossing Folder through my die cut machine. I used a blending brush to first blend Dusty Sage ink lightly over the entirety of the fern. I wanted to fill out the greenery, but not make it too overwhelming in order to keep the overall feel of the card very soft and serene. After I’d finished blending the pale green ink, I swiped the Laurel Green ink pad directly over the raised areas of the embossed image. Putting the ink pad directly to the embossed image intensifies the details and I think creates some super realistic looking foliage!

After I had created the greenery itself, I used a blending brush to blend some beautiful Winter Sky ink. This shade of blue has some green and gray undertones, making it so marvelously soft and subtle and a wonderful complement to the soft greenery. I also splattered some handmade metallic watercolors in coordinating shades on the finished blended panel. I think it looks like splatters of dew or rain drops!

For a simple greeting, I die cut the You’re In Our Thoughts die twice from Concord and 9th Evergreen cardstock. I adhered both of these die cuts together using liquid adhesive, then adhered them to the fern panel. The extra die cut helps to add a bit of height to the die cut and to differentiate it from the super textured background, while the dark green cardstock helps it to really pop while still coordinating with the overall color scheme. Finally, I added a few Melanite Magic gems for one last added textural element and touch of sparkle.
Well I hope you enjoyed this serene sympathy card! I think botanicals and nature in general are great themes for sympathy cards, because they are completely neutral and the colors are so soothing. If you haven’t checked out the Just A Note release from Simon Says Stamp, I highly encourage you to take a peek. There are so many wonderful products covering such a wide variety of styles! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and be sure to stop back over this weekend for the Just A Note Blog Hop!
