Hi friends! I am back today with a project that uses some of the “leftovers” from my Easter egg card from THIS post. I had die cut a cool rainbow of posies using the Simple Flowers dies and backed them with some white glitter paper, but only used one of each color family and so had lots of sweet little posies left over. I was reminded of gorgeous, multi-hued hydrangeas spilling over into a garden, and thought that I would try to recreate this visual with flowers falling out of a basket! Let’s get started with the details.
As I mentioned previously, I had die cut the Simple Flowers dies from seven different shades of cardstock in a cool rainbow gradient, starting with light pink and ending with dark blue. I love the color saturation that you get with vivid colored cardstock, but you can also easily recreate this look with your favorite inks! You can either blend the inks with blending brushes or swipe the ink pads directly on to your white cardstock to create vibrant, custom colored cardstock. I die cut the solid back layer with white glitter cardstock and adhered the front and backs together with liquid adhesive.
When looking back through my previous projects, I have noticed that I like symmetry and right angles; something about having my images perfectly centered or a symmetrical floral arrangement makes my heart happy. However, in the interest of keeping things unique, I decided to create a diagonal “basket” for my flowers to adorn. I trimmed down a panel of white cardstock to 3.75″ x 5″, then turned it at an angle and used my trimmer to cut it down a diagonal line, cutting the panel almost in half. I then ran this oddly-shaped panel of white cardstock through my die cutting machine using the Woven embossing folder.
I popped my “basket” up on an A2 card front with some foam squares, then arranged my rainbow of posies down the diagonal side. I kept them in rainbow order, starting from the light pink and working my way down to the dark blue, mixing some of the colors together to keep the visual flow from being too choppy and color-blocked. I used liquid adhesive for some, foam adhesive for others, and even a couple with double layer of foam adhesive for extra dimension and height!
For the greeting, I stamped a few sentiments from the Welcoming stamp set using Pawsitively Saturated Orchid Ink, then stamped directly over the top of these images with embossing ink and sprinkled Hero Arts Iridescent Purple embossing powder over the top. This embossing powder is mostly translucent, adding a fabulous iridescent shine over colored images! I die cut the sentiments with their coordinating dies and popped them up on my “basket” with foam adhesive. Finally, I added a few shimmering Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for more sparkle and texture!
