I have loved Alex Syberia’s floral stamps for a long time, basically since the company first arrived on the stamping scene a few years ago, and the gorgeous Beautiful Soul stamp set is another fine example of Alex’s beautiful illustration style!
The set features a large floral bouquet with some really lovely sentiments. I chose to work with my colored pencils for today’s project, creating a soft and lovely camellia project. I pulled out my favorite colored pencils and some soft aqua paper, then used Simon Says Stamp’s White Pigment Ink to stamp the image in the center of the panel of 4″ x 5.25″ soft aqua cardstock. I like pairing white pigment ink with my colored pencils because the white lines seem to be absorbed neatly into the colored pencil coloring, creating a crisp, no-line coloring look. I created soft vanilla-colored blooms with deep teal foliage, adding some gold and white paint pen dots to the tips of the stamens in the center of the flowers.
After I had finished coloring the gorgeous image from the Beautiful Soul Alex Syberia Designs STAMPtember collaboration set, I used a blending brush to softly blend Raindrop Pawsitively Saturated Ink around the edges, creating a magical halo around the meticulously colored blooms. I used some scrap computer paper to create a very rough mask to lay over the top of my pencil-colored blooms, then splattered the edges of the penciled and blended card front with gold watercolors, picking up on the gold paint pen on the stamens and adding a bit more shine and additional texture to the card front.
After all of my different elements were complete, I mounted the 4″ x 5.25″ panel of cardstock on the center of a full-sized A2 panel of deep teal cardstock, creating a coordinating mat around the edges of the card front and framing the pretty flowers nicely. For the greeting, I used white pigment ink to stamp a sentiment from Beautiful Soul onto some more of the deep teal cardstock, then added Iridescent Gold Embossing Powder over the top. I prefer to stamp first with the white pigment ink rather than simply using embossing ink, because this Iridescent Gold Embossing Powder is a bit translucent, and I didn’t want it to get lost in the deep richness of the teal cardstock. I used the coordinating dies for Beautiful Soul to die cut the finished sentiment, then popped it up on the card front with foam adhesive squares and tucked a shining gold twine bow beneath it. Finally, I added a few shimmering gems in a coordinating shade of pale buttery yellow for one last touch of sparkle!
