Tidings of Minty Cheer with Simon Says Stamp + Halloween SALE!

Hi friends! It’s Halloween in the real world, but my brain has been in holiday mode for weeks. (Though holiday mode never is really far… I love creating Christmas projects all year long!) I have mentioned before that I rarely use red during the non-Christmas months; for some reason, I don’t gravitate towards red unless it is more of a cool, pinky red. But at Christmas, candy apple red is one of my favorite ways to make a holiday card extra festive, with bonus points if it comes in sparkle form! And extra, extra bonus points for sparkly red on a shaker card! Let’s get started with my super festive and sparkling red project today.

To begin, I die cut the Candy Cane Plate from Simon Says Stamp Rich Red Matte foil cardstock. To enhance the candy cane aesthetic, I kept the color palette to a simple red and white throughout each element. I backed the die cut cover plate with acetate, then added strips of foam adhesive around the edges to create a shaker card. I filled the shaker pocket with Red Berries Sequins and Cottontail Sequins. Shaker cards are just so festive and celebratory, in my opinion!

For the greeting, I used the gorgeous, generously-sized Fancy Tidings of Cheer, die cutting the shadow layer from the same crisp white cardstock that I used to back my shaker, then die cutting the detail layer with from Simon Says Stamp Crimson Glitter Cardstock. I die cut some Simon Says Stamp Vellum using the scalloped tag from the Tag Adornments set, then tilted it whimsically to the side and adhered the sentiment die cut to it with liquid adhesive.

Before adhering the sentiment to the card front, I die cut some A2 Frames from more Crimson Glitter Cardstock and adhered them flush around the very outer edge of the card front, helping to hide some of the foam adhesive strips peeking out in the candy cane windows. I adhered the sentiment and tag images to the card front, keeping the adhesive behind the solid sentiment die cut so my vellum stayed nice and clean. For a final few embellishments of texture, I added a double hemp twine bow and some Cherry Pawsitively Dazzling Gems!
