Hi friends! I have a quintessentially summer project to share with you today using some new goodies from Simon Says Stamp’s Always There release, (click HERE to see the entire collection) aptly called Bring on the Sun. We are deep in the throes of summertime, and that means lots of pool time. Swimming lessons, pool parties, pool afternoons…. we love our local pool! I used the perfect poolside imagery from Bring on the Sun to create a panel of custom patterned paper. Let’s get started with the details!
To begin, I selected several images from Bring on the Sun, then, beginning with the largest image, I stamped a pattern on my panel of white A2 cardstock. To keep the pattern interesting, I rotated the cardstock and the stamp itself to make sure that the images didn’t look too cookie cutter-ish. After I had stamped the largest image (the swimming suit), I selected the second largest image, filling in some of the blank spots, again rotating the stamp and the cardstock to keep the pattern cohesive. I continued down the line with the next smallest images, filling in the blank spots to create a full panel of patterned cardstock. I stamped each image with Inkon3’s Fadeout Ink, which is perfect to use for no-line coloring!
I colored all of the stamped image with my OLO Markers, keeping the color palette to a cool blue, white, and tan color scheme. When I am coloring a full pattern like this, I like to keep the color palette simple so as not to overwhelm the eye with too many colors.
After I had finished coloring the entire background, I stamped a pair of sentiments from Chill Vibes using white pigment ink on some coordinating khaki colored cardstock, then added white embossing powder over the top to create crisp sentiments. I used the coordinating die to cut out the larger sentiment, then adhered it to some coordinating glitter cardstock and used my sharp scissors to cut a glittery shadow around the sentiment. I used my trimmer to trim a sentiment strip, then adhered both to the card front with foam adhesive for a bit of extra dimension. Finally, I added a twine bow and some Misty Mountain Embellishments for a bit of sparkle!
