Hey Boo Shaker Card with New Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I have a project to share with you today that is a little outside of my normal floral wheelhouse. I am not huge on “scary” Halloween (not too much of a shock there), preferring instead cutesy and sweet. I took the “sweet” literally with this card, putting the new Candy Corn Border die to use to create this festive shaker card! I recently acquired some Toner Cardstock, and I thought it would be fun to do some toner foiling with this cute new die and some of the Simon Says Stamp DecoFoil Toner Foils. Let’s get started with the details!

To begin my card, I used my Minc machine to foil some strips of Toner Cardstock using Simon Says Stamp Orange and Yellow DecoFoil, as well as white Cheerfoil, emulating the colors of traditional candy corn. After I had foiled the panels, I used the new Candy Corn Border die to die cut each shade of foiled cardstock. The shine on these die cuts is so cute! I wish I had thought to save the interiors of the die cuts to do some inlaid die cuts. Wouldn’t that be adorable?

To create my shaker element, I first blended some Butter and Sherbet Pawsitively Saturated Ink using blending brushes on a panel of white cardstock, again emulating the traditional colors of a candy corn. I used a light hand on the yellow, as I wanted it to fad smoothly into the white cardstock. After I had finished blending, I created a shaker pouch using some leftover stamp packaging and Tear-rific Tape, leaving the top open so that I could fill my shaker. I filled it with some pretty and iridescent yellow sequins from the Zest Embellishment Pack and closed up my shaker pouch. After I had finished the shaker, I used Micro Dot Adhesive Sheets to adhere the intricate foiled die cuts in their appropriate spot over the blended areas. I adhered the shaker panel to the center of an A2 Pre-Scored Black Side Fold Card Base using liquid adhesive.

For the greeting, I die cut the shadow layer of the Big Bat from some Pitch Black cardstock and the detail layer from white cardstock. I kept the white die cut inside the negative space and used some residual ink leftover from blending the background to blend an ombré on the die cut greeting. Keeping this delicate die cut in the negative space helps to keep it steady while blending! I adhered the two die cuts together, then added the die cut sentiment and an orange-foiled sentiment strip from the new Witch, Please Toner Foil Sentiment Cards using foam adhesive squares. Finally, I used a buttery yellow Copic marker to dye some 1/4″ seam binding and tied it into a fluffy bow, which I tucked beneath the die cut sentiment.
