Hi friends! I am back today on this cold Monday with a card reminiscent of the springtime that we have seen peeking out occasionally over the last few weeks in the bright blue skies, longer days, and warmer temperatures melting the piles of snow leftover from one of the most significant snowstorms we’ve had in a while. I absolutely adore the Divine Peony die set: the graceful, delicate stems, the huge bloom, the dainty bud… it is truly a beautiful floral die set. I love pairing old and new, so I pulled out some newer dies and stamps to create this pretty vintage floral card. Let’s get started with the details!
I began by die cutting the beautiful Divine Peony dies from plain white cardstock. While I always enjoy a bold floral statement, I love a soft, delicate floral moment as well. To create this feminine blushy peach peony, I used OLO Markers to add soft color and shading to each individual die cut from the Divine Peony die set, judiciously using my Zero marker to keep the pale peony as softly colored as possible. After coloring each piece, I used Simon Says Stamp Thin Foam Adhesive Squares to adhere the pieces of the flower together, creating beautiful dimension on this layered floral image.
To ground my floral stalk, I die cut one of the newer Chunky Scalloped Ovals dies from some Simon Says Stamp Ivory cardstock, a lovely and soft creamy shade that worked beautifully with the warmth and delicacy of the blush bloom! I also die cut a full sized A2 panel of Ivory cardstock using the Pinpoint Circle Background, impressing a delicate pattern of circles into the cardstock without actually creating a die cut. I love the texture this provides; it reminds me of vintage fabric!I layered the Scalloped Oval die cut in the center of the textured background with more thin foam adhesive, then placed the colored peony die cut on the oval, adhering all of the pieces with liquid adhesive. Each layer of the peony has thin foam adhesive, so I wanted to make sure that the card wasn’t too bulky with too much dimensional adhesive.
For the greeting, I heat embossed the EZ Strips Everyday sentiment stamp onto some more Ivory cardstock using Copper embossing powder. This one step stamp stamps tons of different greetings in one fell swoop, then you can use one of the multiple EZ Strips dies to die cut all of the sentiments in one fell swoop! I used the simple EZ Strips Rectangles to die cut the sentiments, then selected a larger and smaller greeting that complemented each other, mounting them on the card front with more foam adhesive. Lots of dimension to keep this card interesting with its limited color palette! For a bit of sparkle, I added gorgeous Peachy Pawsitively Dazzling Gems to each scallop around the edge of the oval die cut. I just love that final, sparkling touch!
