Hi friends! I am back today on this cold Monday with a card reminiscent of the springtime that we have seen peeking out occasionally over the last few weeks in the bright blue skies, longer days, and warmer temperatures melting the piles of snow leftover from one of the most significant snowstorms we’ve had in a while. I absolutely adore the Divine Peony die set: the graceful, delicate stems, the huge bloom, the dainty bud… it is truly a beautiful floral die set. I love pairing old and new, so I pulled out some newer dies and stamps to create this pretty vintage floral card. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by die cutting the beautiful Divine Peony dies from plain white cardstock. While I always enjoy a bold floral statement, I love a soft, delicate floral moment as well. To create this feminine blushy peach peony, I used OLO Markers to add soft color and shading to each individual die cut from the Divine Peony die set, judiciously using my Zero marker to keep the pale peony as softly colored as possible. After coloring each piece, I used Simon Says Stamp Thin Foam Adhesive Squares to adhere the pieces of the flower together, creating beautiful dimension on this layered floral image.

To ground my floral stalk, I die cut one of the newer Chunky Scalloped Ovals dies from some Simon Says Stamp Ivory cardstock, a lovely and soft creamy shade that worked beautifully with the warmth and delicacy of the blush bloom! I also die cut a full sized A2 panel of Ivory cardstock using the Pinpoint Circle Background, impressing a delicate pattern of circles into the cardstock without actually creating a die cut. I love the texture this provides; it reminds me of vintage fabric!I layered the Scalloped Oval die cut in the center of the textured background with more thin foam adhesive, then placed the colored peony die cut on the oval, adhering all of the pieces with liquid adhesive. Each layer of the peony has thin foam adhesive, so I wanted to make sure that the card wasn’t too bulky with too much dimensional adhesive.

For the greeting, I heat embossed the EZ Strips Everyday sentiment stamp onto some more Ivory cardstock using Copper embossing powder. This one step stamp stamps tons of different greetings in one fell swoop, then you can use one of the multiple EZ Strips dies to die cut all of the sentiments in one fell swoop! I used the simple EZ Strips Rectangles to die cut the sentiments, then selected a larger and smaller greeting that complemented each other, mounting them on the card front with more foam adhesive. Lots of dimension to keep this card interesting with its limited color palette! For a bit of sparkle, I added gorgeous Peachy Pawsitively Dazzling Gems to each scallop around the edge of the oval die cut. I just love that final, sparkling touch!

Well, that’s all for my project today! This card would be so pretty in so many different color palettes; bright and bold, monochromatic (how pretty would it be in blue?!), pastel… so many possibilities for standalone dies! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

I Appreciate You with New Simon Says Stamp!

Hi friends! I have a pretty springtime card to share with you today using some new and old goodies from Simon Says Stamp. I had the gorgeous Divine Peony die set out for another project and wanted to put the leftovers to use again, so I thought I’d use it to embellish a pretty “thanks” sentiment from the new With Thanks stamp and die set. I am always trying to keep things fresh in my craft room with interesting color palettes, and one of the first things that I do with any project is determine the color combination for the card. Because I had a pearlescent blush peony already die cut, I decided to pair it with some gorgeous mint and rose gold to create this unique project. Let’s get started with the details on how I created this card!

*I have gathered links to all of the products used at the bottom of the post for your convenience, using affiliate links. Thank you for shopping with my links! I truly appreciate your support for my work!*

To begin, I used some strips of cardstock to create a background for my floral arrangement and sentiment. I seem to always gravitate towards a textured background for my florals, so I thought that I would create something a bit more streamlined and graphic, rather than textured and subtle. To coordinate with the blush/mint/rose gold palette that I envisioned, I used my trimmer to trim colorful foil, glitter, and matte cardstock strips in multiple widths in my overall color palette, then placed them at a diagonal on my light turquoise card front. I adhered the strips with super strong double sided adhesive, then used my scissors to trim the excess and make the edges flush with the A2 card front.

For the focal point, I used my leftover die cut the Divine Peony with some pearlescent pink cardstock and die cut some foliage using a matte cotton candy pink and vibrant turquoise green cardstock from scraps that I had lying on my desk. (Sometimes when creativity strikes, my messy desk comes in handy!) Whenever I am working with a floral arrangement with multiple colors, I try to keep things balanced, making sure that the colors are not concentrated more in one area than another and applying the “rule of three” to ensure visual balance. I adhered the peony and foliage in a cascading cluster on my striped card front using a mixture of liquid and foam adhesive for lots of dimension.

For the greeting, I used Copper embossing powder to heat emboss sentiments from the new With Thanks onto some more pearlescent pink cardstock. The super smooth surface of the pearly cardstock makes heat embossing a dream! I used my trimmer and the coordinating die to cut everything out, then nestled them amongst my floral bouquet and popped them up on my card front with a double layer of foam tape. Finally, I added a smattering of Bubblegum Pawsitively Dazzling Gems and a pretty pink twine bow to add some additional texture and sparkle to the card front!

Well, that’s all for my project today. I just love this striped background… I am definitely going to have to remember this technique! It’s such a great way to pull all of the colors from the color palette into my card without adding a ton of extra weight or visual bulk. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!

Bridgerton Week Finale: Penelope’s Emerald and Copper Dress!

July 12, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! I am back with my final installment for Bridgerton Week! If you’ve watched the most recent season of Bridgerton, you will have seen the utterly magnificent dress that main character Penelope wears after her “glow up,” a stunning emerald gown with coppery accents that beautifully complement her vibrant auburn hair. I adore the combination of deep emerald green with metallics, particularly with copper and rose gold, so thought I would use that incredible dress as my inspiration starting point for these two cards! Let’s get started with the details.

To start, I selected some lush green cardstocks from the Simon Says Stamp line: Peacock Teal and Midnight Green, accented with a beautiful coppery rose gold glitter cardstock. The combination of these three shades of cardstock created an increidbly striking color palette for these intense cards!

I wanted to emulate some more of that gorgeous embroidery that is so prevalent on the clothing in Bridgerton and from the Regency period, and I thought that a metallic floral pattern would definitely have been apropos for the time period, especially on that elegant emerald satin and netting! I started by die cutting the older-but-still-exquisite Flourishing Bloom Plate from some Welsh Gold glitter cardstock. The plate is detailed, but still die cut beautifully from this sturdy glitter cardstock. I then trimmed down an A2 panel of Simon Says Stamp Peacock Teal cardstock and used a blending brush to blend Raindrop Pawsitively Saturated Ink around the edge of the card front, creating a bit of a vignette in the background. The deep, intense background helps that shimmery coppery rose gold die cut pop beautifully! I adhered the die cut to the blended background with some liquid adhesive.

For the greeting, I heat embossed some sentiments from the So Much Love stamp set onto some Midnight Green cardstock using Altenew Rose Gold embossing powder. The contrast between these two colors is just incredible; the sentiment practically glows on the deep green cardstock! I die cut the large “love” sentiment with the coordinating die and trimmed the strip with my trimmer, adhering them to the center of the floral card front with some foam squares. I accented the centers of the flowers with some shimmering gems, then created a custom-colored bow by using a coordinating alcohol marker to dye a length of faux silk ribbon, tucking it beneath the greeting with some strong liquid adhesive.

For my second project, I maintained the same color palette with the deep emerald greens and sparkling coppery gold accents, this time creating a whimsical teal peony with the Divine Peony die. I die cut this peony die three times: once each from Simon Says Stamp Peacock Teal and Midnight Green cardstock and once from Welsh Gold glitter cardstock, then used a combination of all three colors to create the lush bouquet. Before adhering my bouquet to the Peacock Teal card front, I used a blending brush to blend some Raindrop Pawsitively Saturated Ink in the center of the A2 card front, then splattered the blended area with some coordinating glittery watercolors.

For the greeting, I stamped and embossed a sentiment from My Love Greetings using Altenew Rose Gold embossing powder on some more Peacock Teal cardstock, which I die cut with the coordinating die. I used liquid and foam adhesive to add the bouquet to my card front, adding varying heights to keep things interesting, then used a double layer of foam adhesive to add the sentiment die cut. Finally, I added a few shimmering coordinating gems and a coordinating rose gold metallic twine bow!

Well, that’s all for my projects today! I hope you’ve enjoyed delving into the world of Bridgerton with me; I think these cards today are some of my favorite cards that I’ve made recently! Thanks so much for stopping by today, and be sure to come back next week for Christmas in July! Have a marvelous day!

NEW Simon Says Stamp Sunny Vibes Release!

June 19, 2024

This post was sponsored by Simon Says Stamp. Thanks, Simon!

Hi friends! The new Simon Says Stamp Sunny Vibes release is now available, and it’s filled with absolutely stunning new goodies, from summery beach images to beautiful sentiments to gorgeous flower stamps and dies. I, of course, was particularly drawn to the beautiful new floral images, especially the new Divine Peony die. I am perpetually a sucker for peonies, and the beautiful layers and details on this new Divine Peony die set are so graceful and elegant that I just couldn’t resist customizing them with some alcohol marker coloring. Let’s get started with the details!

I began my project by die cutting the new Divine Peony die from Hammermill white cardstock. I then used various shades of Copic markers to color the peony bloom in a lovely warm peach tones, intensifying the vibrancy for the layers in the very back of the peony and following the debossed lines as guides for where to put extra shading and shadows. I used some warm sage greens for the foliage, keeping all of the colors very muted and delicate.

After I had finished assembling the colored peony die cuts, I blended some Night Pawsitively Saturated Ink onto one of the new Soft Navy ready made card bases. Having card bases already cut and scored makes the process super quick and easy! After I had blended a deeper navy “spotlight” on my background, I splattered some sparkly rose gold watercolors on the blended area. To continue my rose gold accents, I die cut a frame using the new Nested Domed Arches Frames from some of Simon Says Stamp’s gorgeous Metallic Rose Gold cardstock. This blush foil cardstock is so gorgeous and a very unique color amongst the shades of rose gold cardstock in my stash; truly, it’s a must-have, in my book anyway! I adhered the frame to my splattered and blended background using some liquid adhesive.

After I had adhered my shiny arch frame on to the card front, I heat embossed a greeting from the new Sunshine and Smiles sentiment set onto some vellum using Iridescent Copper embossing powder. The warm peachy tones in the embossed sentiment accent the rose gold frame and splatter beautifully and pick up the warm coppery tones in the colored peony flower! I popped up the peony with some foam squares, then tucked the greeting amongst the foliage with some thin strips of foam adhesive. Finally, I added a smattering of coordinating peachy gems for added sparkle!

Well, that’s all for my project today! The new Sunny Vibes release has so many exceptional new products; I can’t wait to share all that I’ve created with you! Be sure to stop back here later this week, as well, for the fabulous blog hop and its wealth of inspiration. Thanks so much for stopping by today, and have a marvelous day!
