Autumn Legs with Colorado Craft Company and Catherine Pooler!

August 28, 2020

Hi there! I have a special post for you today, featuring new goodies from both Colorado Craft Company and Catherine Pooler Designs for a fun blog hop! You should have arrived here from Karen Baker’s blog, and your next stop is Verity Biddlecombe. I chose to work with the newest installment of Colorado Craft Company’s Lovely Legs line-Lovely Legs Autumn, paired with some autumnal inks and a new word die from Catherine Pooler Designs. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping the Lovely Legs Seasons-Autumn stamp on a panel of white cardstock using Copic-friendly black ink. I then used my Copic markers in a variety of yellows, oranges, and reds (with some touches of gray) to create a coloreful autumn scene. I don’t care for brown, or warm colors really, so I kept the reds on the cool end of the spectrum by using selections from the RV Copic section the added touch of gray helps to cool down the scene to make it prettier to my eye!

After I’d finished coloring, I trimmed the panel down a touch on all sides so that I could mat it on an A2 panel of black cardstock. I also die cut the Just Thanks die from Catherine Pooler three times from black cardstock, adhering them together with liquid adhesive from Bearly Arts (that fine tip is perfect for making sure that I got just enough glue on the die cuts with no spillage!) to create a dimensional die cut. I also covered it in some crystal clear Lacquer Pen from Hero Arts to help it shine and add a bit of texture.

To add a bit of interest to the area above the stamped and colored Lovely Legs image, I used blender brushes along with Mandarin Spice and Peppermint Scrub inks from Catherine Pooler Designs. I blended the Mandarin Spice first, then added just a touch of Peppermint Scrub around the very edges to create multiple layers of color and coordinate with the colors of my autumnal bouquet. I adhered the colored, blended panel to the black mat, finally adhering the glossy black dimensional die cut.

Well, that’s all for my project today! Now, to add to the fun, Colorado Craft Company and Catherine Pooler Designs are each giving away a $30 gift certificate. The winners will be chosen from across the hop, so the more comments you leave, the more chances you have to win! Winners will be announced on September 1, 2020. Your next stop on the hop is Verity Biddlecombe.

Celebrate Your Birthday!

June 20, 2020

Hi there! Happy Saturday! I have a quick post for you today using some new goodies from Catherine Pooler that are now available in the Ellen Hutson store! I love making cute, colorful birthday cards, and the new products from Catherine Pooler make doing that so easy. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping a background panel using some of the solid stamps from Yay Gifts! by Catherine Pooler and Sugared Lavender, Stone Blue, and Seafoam inks. I softened the colors by stamping off once to create a more subtle confetti background.

Next, I stamped the tower of gifts from Yay Gifts! using Intens-ified Black ink on some Copic-friendly white cardstock, then used my Copic markers in coordinating shades of lavender, blue, and green. I die cut the colorful tower using the coordinating die, popped it up on the stamped background panel using foam adhesive, then added a black Celebrate! die cut using some more foam adhesive. The final touch was to add some Iridescent Snow gems for a touch of sparkle.

Well, that’s all for this project! Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a marvelous day!

Catherine Pooler and Ellen Hutson Blog Hop!

February 25, 2018

Good morning! As a newly minted member of the Ellen Hutson Design Team (I’m still pinching myself on that one…. seriously though), I am thrilled to take part in a blog hop celebrating Catherine Pooler‘s line of products now being available for purchase in the Ellen Hutson store! Catherine Pooler has an absolutely gorgeous lineup, including some stellar inks and beautiful stamps. Today, I was lucky enough to get to play with one of her brand new stamp and die sets, a brand new stencil, and the gorgeous new Zen Collection of inks!

For this first project, I loved the “create your own sunshine” greeting in the Eat, Sleep, Create stamp set, and thought a rainbow would be the perfect backdrop for such a fabulous greeting. I started by blending the Polished, Shea Butter, Sea Foam, and Skylight inks using Clarity Stencil Brushes on an A2 card base to create a pretty rainbow background. (All of the products used in my projects today are linked at the end of the blog post!) Next, I used the Split Chevron stencil to add some Tonic Glimmer Paste to the background.

While the Glimmer Paste was drying, I die cut the “create” three times from black shimmer card stock and adhered them together to create a dimensional die cut. I white heat embossed the rest of the greeting from the Eat, Sleep, Create onto some strips of black card stock. I adhered everything to the (now dry) card front  and added some Sparkling Clear sequins to add some more texture.

For my next project, I decided to combine the pretty sentiment with the beautiful Bed of Roses cover plate die. The Catherine Pooler inks blend beautifully, so I die cut the Bed of Roses cover plate die using some Bristol card stock, masked the edges of the die cut with washi tape, then used my foam blending tools to add some Rose Petals and Sugared Lavender roses. When I pulled off the washi tape, I had a lovely white frame on the edge of the die cut. On the card base, I blended some Sea Foam ink around the edge, leaving the center white to add some interest to the background.

For the greeting, I used the same process as the previous card to create a dimensional die cut from black card stock and heat embossed the rest of the greeting on black card stock. I mounted everything on the card base, then added some more Sparkling Clear sequins for some sparkle.

As an afterthought, I added some Glossy Accents to the dimensional “create” die cut to add a bit more texture to the card front. And that’s it! Two totally different cards using essentially the same set of supplies.

So…. are you excited about being able to purchase the Catherine Pooler lineup from Ellen Hutson? It’s so fabulous to be able to go to one store for one-stop shopping!! Here’s the rest of the hop lineup (you don’t want to miss any of these projects; they’re all fantastic!):
