Celebrate Your Birthday!

Hi there! Happy Saturday! I have a quick post for you today using some new goodies from Catherine Pooler that are now available in the Ellen Hutson store! I love making cute, colorful birthday cards, and the new products from Catherine Pooler make doing that so easy. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping a background panel using some of the solid stamps from Yay Gifts! by Catherine Pooler and Sugared Lavender, Stone Blue, and Seafoam inks. I softened the colors by stamping off once to create a more subtle confetti background.

Next, I stamped the tower of gifts from Yay Gifts! using Intens-ified Black ink on some Copic-friendly white cardstock, then used my Copic markers in coordinating shades of lavender, blue, and green. I die cut the colorful tower using the coordinating die, popped it up on the stamped background panel using foam adhesive, then added a black Celebrate! die cut using some more foam adhesive. The final touch was to add some Iridescent Snow gems for a touch of sparkle.

Where Creativity Meets C9: Shades of C9!

Good morning! As today is the 9th of the month, we are celebrating Concord and 9th’s new release (ahem, please do yourself a favor and go drool over those new stamp sets. Buffalo plaid. Need I say more???)  The 9th also marks the start of a new challenge over at Where Creativity Meets C9. This month, we’re focusing on “Shades of C9,” meaning you can find inspiration in the beautiful shades of aqua and turquoise in the Concord and 9th logo!

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll have seen a sneak peek of my project on Instagram earlier this weekend. I started by heat embossing the pretty florals from You Are Here on some watercolor paper using silver embossing powder. Next, I watercolored the flowers using Shimmerz shimmering watercolor pots in shades of blue and green.

For the greeting, I die cut the celebrate and you from All About You dies in glitzy silver and shimmery teal papers. I glued the celebrate to a strip of vellum that I flagged on the end and popped up the You with dimensional foam adhesive. I trimmed the watercolored panel down a bit and added a strip of the same shimmery teal card stock on the side of my A2 card base. Finally, I scattered a few sequins from my stash across the front of the card.
