Altenew 7th Anniversary Blog Hop

April 8, 2021

Good morning! Altenew is celebrating their 7th Anniversary this month, and we are kicking things off with a multi-day blog hop with masses of prizes! You should have arrived here from Kathy Racoosin’s blog, and your next stop is Amanda Baldwin. You can also start at the beginning at the Altenew Blog.

I have a project to share with you today using one of my all-time favorite Altenew sets: Poppy Garden. In fact, I love this set so much that I even used it in my Altenew Anniversary post from last year! (How’s that for a coincidence, lol) I created some vibrant, cool red poppies for my project today, colored with my Copic markers. Let’s get started with the details!

To start, I stamped several of the images from Poppy Garden using Permanent Black ink, on white cardstock. I used my Copic markers to color the images.

I die cut the colored flowers using the coordinating dies, then turned my attention to the card base.

I die cut the Leaf Frame Cover Plate die from some black cardstock, then mounted it on a white A2 card base. I love the stark contrast the cover plate creates on the card front! The simple black pattern of the die cut is the perfect foil for the black outline on the stamped flowers.

I arranged the die cut Poppy Garden flowers on the card front, then adhered them using foam adhesive for lots of dimension. I white embossed a greeting from Many Thanks onto a strip of black cardstock. The final touch was to add some metallic gunmental gems for some sparkle.

To celebrate their 7th anniversary, Altenew and crafty friends have a huge variety of prizes to give away!

Altenew 6th Anniversary Blog Hop+Giveaway!

April 2, 2020

Hi friends! Today, I have the pleasure of taking part in Altenew’s 6th Anniversary blog hop celebration! You should have arrived here from Lilith Eeckels, and your next stop is Kathy Racoosin. Altenew has long been one of my favorite companies. I have a mild obsession with flowers, and Altenew’s flower stamps are absolutely phenomenal, whether they are multi-layered solid stamps or outline drawings perfect for coloring! I can honestly say that I feel like Altenew’s flowers have really helped to hone my coloring skills in many different mediums, and for that I will always be an Altenew fan! I have a project today using some of my favorite stamps from Altenew, so let’s get started with the details!

I began by stamping several blooms from Poppy Garden and Wild Flora stamp sets onto some of Altenew’s new watercolor paper using some fadeout ink. (Love how smooth and crisp this watercolor paper is!) I then used my Daniel Smith watercolors to watercolor the images in a colorful palette of pink, yellow, and purple.

After I’d die cut the watercolored flowers using their coordinating dies, I used some washi tape to mask off the edge of the A9 card base. I used blending brushes to blend Hydrangea, Magenta, and Sunkissed inks in a sunset ombre down the front of the card.

I arranged the flowers in a pretty bouquet down one side of the blended card base, then used Press’n’Seal to pick up the arrangement so as to be able to add adhesive without having to completely redo my carefully arranged bouquet. I added a greeting from Poppy Garden stamped on some strips of cardstock using Obsidian Black ink. The final touch was a few shiny gold sequins!

Now, we have SO many fun giveaways for you to celebrate Altenew’s 6th Anniversary!

Altenew November Stamp+Die Release+Giveaway!

November 7, 2019

Hi there! I’m so excited to be taking part in Altenew’s November Stamp and Die Release Blog Hop! You should have arrived here from Caly Person and your next stop is Kymona Tracey. You can also start at the beginning if you have gotten lost! There are some beautiful new products available for purchase, and I have two projects to share today, so let’s get started with the details!

For my first project, I used the new Mix and Match Mariposa dies and some watercoloring to create this ethereal project! I began by taping a panel of watercolor paper down to my board, then painted a pretty ombre wash from peach to plum, adding some artistic splatters and spritzing it with Iridescent Shimmer Spray from Altenew.

Next, I die cut several of the detailed butterflies from the Mix and Match Mariposa from some heavyweight vellum. I trimmed down the watercolored panel after it had dried and mounted it on a panel of coral cardstock. I also die cut a Handwritten Hello from some glittery white cardstock.

I adhered the butterflies and hello die cut on the watercolored panel, popping up the butterfly wings a little to add extra dimension. The final touch was to add some pretty jewels in various sizes to draw the eye down the card front!

For my second project, I used the beautiful new Poppy Garden stamps and dies. I began by stamping several of the images from the Poppy Garden set on some white Copic-friendly cardstock. I then colored the images using shades of deep red and plum with some bright lime green leaves. I used the coordinating dies to die cut all of the colored images.

I love using white on white for elegant textured backgrounds, especially when paired with a brightly colored bouquet. I die cut the Layered Plaid Cover Plate B Die from some plain white cardstock and adhered it to a white A2 card base. I arranged the floral die cuts in a bouquet, then adhered the bouquet using foam adhesive for extra dimension.

I die cut the thicker Handwritten Hello die using some more white cardstock. I adhered the die cut to the bouquet. I love the contrast of the bright white sentiment over the brightly colored flowers. I added a few gems for a bit of sparkle.

Well, that’s all for my projects today! Altenew has some great giveaways to celebrate this new release.

Altenew is giving away a $50 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by 11/13/2019 for a chance to win.

We’ll also draw a winner to receive a $20 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 11/16/2019.
