Hi there! Today, Altenew released their new Modern & Edgy collection, and we’re celebrating with a blog hop! You should have arrived here from Joy Baldwin, and your next stop is Keeway Tsao. You an also start back at the beginning at the Altenew Blog if you get lost. I have two projects to share with you today, featuring a “modern and edgy” color scheme (for me at least), so let’s get started with the details!

I’ve been stuck in a bit of a pink and purple rut, so I thought I’d branch out and do something totally different with my projects for today and feature some bright turquoise, black, and white.

For my first project, I began by stamping several blooms from the Fresh Bloom stamp set using the Sweet Dreams ink quartet, and stamping the black outline images with Obsidian pigment ink. I die cut all of the stamped images with the coordinating dies.

The greeting was created using the new Modern Hello stamp set. I used the lightest three inks from the Sweet Dreams ink quartet and my Misti to create an ombré “hello,” adding the “friend” with more Obsidian ink. I trimmed the finished stamped greeting down to a rectangle and set it aside.

These larger scale blooms from Fresh Bloom were the perfect size for a slimline card, so I die cut two white panels using the Nesting Slim Rectangles set and layered them together using Instant Dimension Foam Tape. I then arranged the die cut flowers on the card front, adding a few solid black leaves cut from black cardstock using the Just Leaves die set. I love how the turquoise flowers just pop amongst the black and white foliage and background!

My second card features the same color scheme and graphic feel. I began by lightly blending some Aqualicious ink around the edges of a pale aqua A2 card base. I layered the new Diamond Frame die cut from black cardstock over the top of the blended card base. I love how the blending around the edges emphasizes the frame even more!

I wanted some simple flowers to layer over the fairly detailed die cut frame, so I die cut the Mini Flower Cluster die set from some white and black cardstock, layering them together to give just a hint of dimension to the flower layers. I also die cut some deep teal leaves, again using the Just Leaves die set.

I die cut the new Fancy Hugs die from the Ocean Collection glitter cardstock pack, then layered the die cut greeting and the floral cluster die cuts on the card front using more foam tape. The final touch was to add some iridescent aqua gems for some extra sparkle!
Well, that’s all for my projects today. Now, Altenew has some fun giveaways to celebrate this release!
