Spellbinders June Stamp of the Month!

Hi there! Today, I’m sharing some inspiration using the June Stamp of the Month stamp set from Spellbinders! This month has so many beautiful, heartfelt sentiments included, as well as some great outdoor imagery that I’ve used to create a mini-slimline card with a blended sunset. Let’s get started with the details!

I began by trimming down a piece of white cardstock, then used a T-square to mark a line for my mask. I added some Post-It notes across the bottom, then stamped the sun from the June Stamp of the Month using Duckling ink from Simon Says Stamp in the center of the top of the card.

Next, I used Pale Blush Pink, Hot Lips, Lavender, and Surf Blue inks (all from Simon Says Stamp) with blending brushes to blend a pretty sunset sky. I removed the mask from the bottom portion of the card front. (I love the crisp edges when you remove the mask. It’s so magical!)

I stamped a greeting from the June Stamp of the Month on a square of white cardstock, then backed it with a slightly larger panel of black cardstock. I stamped a couple of the bird silhouettes to complete the “rule of three” for the black accents, then popped up the greeting using some foam adhesive. I popped up the blended panel on a full size mini-slimline card base using some more foam tape. Lots of dimension, but only a few stamps used for this one. It’s so fun to see the whole card come together after using only minimal supplies!

Spellbinders Holiday Release with Sharyn Sowell!

Hi there! Today, I have some more holiday inspiration for you, this time featuring some of the brand new products from the latest Sharyn Sowell Holiday 2019 release by Spellbinders! I love working with die cuts as the focal point of my cards. There are so many fun techniques that can be done with them, but you can still create a super quick and simple card! I have two projects for you today using the Love Came Down Etched Cover Plate and the Starry Forest Etched Die Set using the same rose gold and china blue color scheme. Let’s get started with the details!

For the first project, I kept things super simple for some easy mass-production inspiration! I began by die cutting the beautiful and incredibly detailed Love Came Down Etched Cover Plate die from some shiny rose gold foil cardstock. Die cutting these incredibly detailed dies from foil cardstock is one of the best tips I can give for using these intricate dies; the foil die cuts like a dream, and you get the added bonus of having a beautiful metallic shine!

For the card front, I blended some pretty china blue ink on a light blue cardstock base. (You could blend two different shades of blue instead of using the blue cardstock; I have found that blending on colored cardstock saves me SO much time and achieves similar results as blending an entire panel!) I also splattered some white paint on the blended card front to add a bit of extra texture and interest to the background. I adhered the shiny foil die cut to the card front using foam adhesive for lots of dimension. A quick and simple card using just a few supplies and ONE die cut definitely fits the mass production bill required for holiday cardmaking!

My second card is a bit more involved. I began by die cutting the Starry Forest Etched Die Set from navy blue matte cardstock, rose gold glitter cardstock, and some more shiny rose gold foil cardstock. The variety of textures and finishes helps to differentiate between the different die cuts and allow that detail to really shine through!

On a blue A2 card base, I lightly blended some more of the china blue ink approximately where I wanted to focus my little woodland scene using a blender brush to create a halo and attract the eye towards my cluster of die cuts. I arranged the Starry Forest die cuts in a cluster and adhered them to the card base using foam adhesive for lots of dimension.

After I’d adhered my little cluster, I heat embossed a holiday greeting on some more navy blue cardstock using rose gold embossing powder. (Absolutely love the contrast of the rose gold on that deep navy!) I adhered it to the card front using more foam adhesive. I then added some pretty sequins to match the color scheme, finally adding a few dots of “snow” using my white gel pen. Slightly more involved than the first card, but allowing the beautiful detailed die cuts to remain the focal point still shaved my crafting time down by quite a bit!

Spellbinders Kit of the Month!

Good morning! I’ve recently had the opportunity to play with some super fun dies from Spellbinders… I showed you this project made with Spellbinders’ Poppies Card Creator, and today I have two projects using the Spellbinders Kit of The Month from November of last year.

I created a holiday project and a non-holiday project to share with you today.  (These beautiful filigree dies are really quite versatile, even though the kit is technically a holiday kit!) Let’s get started on the details!

For this first holiday card, I started by die cutting the lovely corner twice from some heavy duty card stock. I used a few scrap pieces of watercolor paper, but you could just use your heavyweight card stock as well. I then created a “molten” die cut by pressing my Versamark pad onto the die cut to make it nice and sticky, then dipping it in my gold embossing powder and heating it up. I repeated this process a total of 3 times to create a lovely, dimensional metallic die cut.

I added a watercolored holiday panel (from Papertrey Ink’s Botanical Blocks series) that I had colored for a Daily Marker 30 Day challenge ages ago, but it worked perfectly with the almost vintage feel provided by the metallic die cuts. Before adhering the die cuts and the watercolored panel, I adhered a strip of red foil card stock down the center of the card front. I then layered the die cuts and the watercolored panel over the red strip. I figured the holly berries on the watercolored panel was self explanatory enough that I didn’t need a greeting!

For my next project, I wanted to showcase the incredible detail on the large die included in the kit. There’s something so perfect, so classy about white on white, and it showcases the gorgeous intricate die cut just beautifully. I die cut the main die three times from plain white card stock and adhered them all together to create a dimensional die cut. I adhered them to the white A2 card base. It’s amazing how much detail you can still see, even without any color!

I heat embossed a simple “happy anniversary” onto a strip of white card stock using gold embossing powder and adhered it using foam tape over the top of the dimensional die cut. For just a smidge of detail to coordinate with the gold embossing, I added some gold jewels to the die cut.

Don’t they look pretty together? I love being able to use one product in several ways.
